DWI penalties can include a jail sentence and the loss of your driving privileges from three months for a first offense to up to ten years if you have earlier DWI convictions. There are no provisions under state law for a restricted, work or hardship license. You will also be ordered to attend a course for persons convicted of DWI. A driver found guilty of DWI may also be required to install an ignition interlock device for a period of six months to three years based on the facts of the case.
